Yes, there has been a new social restriction put in place. This one isn't due to COVID, but is related to the aftermath of COVID changing our society.
No, this one, once again, is due to people being ridiculously selfish and stupid.
Southwest, and American Airlines have put restrictions on alcohol being served on their flights due to passenger behavior and assaults on their flight crews.
Yep. God forbid people treat other people with any sort of consideration, or respect. If it isn't protesting over masks, people are now fighting the airline attendants over putting on their seatbelts when required to do so. Chalk another one up to the "anti-maskers" or as I like to call them, the non-common-sensers to ruin something for everyone again with their selfish, obtuse behavior.
Now, don't get me wrong, I know sometimes flight attendants can act like their the momentary gods of life, the universe and everything, and in my days of frequent travel, I had some disagreements with them. Like the attendant on a Delta flight that insisted I had to check my camera bag because it was too much carry on. Not likely to happen. And it was small, only had my small D40x, a 18-55MM, and a 55-200MM in it. I took out the camera and lenses, and handed her an empty, soft-sided bag to check because logic would dictate that actually satisfied her request. But for the most part, I traveled via US Airways back then, and for the most part was automatically upgraded to first class on the majority of larger flights. There were times I drank... a lot. Knowing I didn't really need to do anything once I landed except get to a hotel and sleep. Despite how much I may have drank, or how abrasive the flight attendants might have been, I never acted as if I was above their authority, or not subject to FAA regulations.
If you're getting on a flight, and you don't understand that basic fact - YOU ARE SUBJECT TO FAA REGULATIONS THE MINUTE YOU WALK INTO AN AIRPORT AND/OR BOARD A FLIGHT - you absolutely should not be traveling by air. The second you start acting like you are above those regulations or your personal views should be held above FAA regulations, you're not only being as asshole, but you're most likely breaking laws, and in the larger picture making it more difficult, and more restrictive for people to fly in the future.
You asshole.
One asshole decided to line his shoes with an explosive and now we all still have to take off our shoes for inspection getting onto a plane. See how that works, you asshole? Stop being a fucking asshole and put on your fucking mask, and seatbelt when told to.
On that note, it occurs to me that every time a doctor tells me there's something wrong, or potentially wrong with me, I often deny it saying "I feel fine!"
Then later upon reflection, I have to ask myself, do I really feel fine, or have I just acclimated to the ever increasing levels of physical and emotional pain that I've been experiencing my entire life?
Not sure there's an answer for that.
